「Firefox 38.2.1 for OS/2 beta6 その１」の続きです。
ちょっとあの後 eComStation 2.1 のシステムをいじりすぎちゃって先日クリーンインストールをしたのですが、Arca Noae Package Manager をインストールしようとした6月1日（日本時間）はタイミングが悪かったですね。
「www.arcanoae.com のサーバからの応答が一定時間以内に返ってきませんでした」
すくに察しはついたのですが、後日アナウンスがありました。案の定 Blue Lion 改め ArcaOS 5.0 に改名したニュースが Slashdot に掲載されて人々が一切に検索結果にたどりついたせいで
It's happened again... We've been slashdotted...
（また起きちゃったよ、スラッシュドット効果が）
とのこと。
それにしても ArcaOS はまだリリース日や価格も未確定、インストーラに盛り込むべき問題は山積しているためαリリースでさえかなり先の話、しょせん正式名称を発表しただけのニュースなのに、これだけの騒ぎが起きるものですかね（このあと2000文字ほど書いて消した）。
終わったことはまあいいや。
本題に戻ります。
日付が変わる頃には Slashdotted が終わり、Arca Noae Package Manager （以下 ANPM と略す）の rpm-yum-base-os2.exe のセットアップも無事できました。
（そういえば ANPM の記事ってこちらのブログで書いてないね。^_^;）
なぜこれを入れるかと言うと、日本語環境で「Firefox for OS/2 のセットアップが楽になるから」の一言に尽きますが、その説明は後で。
とりあえずうちの環境ではちょっと重たいけれど安定して動く Firefox ESR 31.8.0 をまずセットアップして、about:config を開き、
Warpzilla TIPS ページにある注意事項にある
Prior to ESR38, downloadable fonts did not work and could cause crashes if they were not disabled: user_pref("gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled", false);
This was set by default in builds from ESR10 through ESR31.
を設定しなおします。そうしてから Hobbes OS/2 から落としてきた Firefox 38.2.1 のインストーラを実行しました。
こういうプロセスを経て、Firefox 38.2.1 を起動してみたのですが、やっぱりクラッシュしますね。
どうやら前回の記事と同じところで TRAP しているようです。
とはいえ先月末 Firefox 38.8.0 for OS/2 beta7 が出ました。変更点は次の通り：

- Update Firefox to latest version 38.8.0 ESR.
- Fix saved passwords not shown on the Options->Security page.
- Fix broken Open in New Tab and Restore Session functionality. This also fixes opening URLs from command line in new tabs instead of creating a new window.
- Add support for dynamic FFmpeg DLL discovery and enable MP4 video support by default. This allows to play H264/AAC video files in HTML5 if supported FFmpeg DLLs are present on the system (see README.OS2).
- Set default font families to generic "serif", "sans-serif" and "monospace" instead of fixed familiy names. This allows Firefox to automatically pick up system-global defaults set (or changed) in FontConfig (see README.OS2).
- Report the OS/2 error code and faluty module name in a PM message box and to the standard output if Mozilla runime (XUL.DLL) cannot be loaded at startup.
今回から「起動時に Mozilla ランタイム (XUL.DLL)がロードできない際、PM メッセージボックスに OS/2 エラーコードと障害のあるモジュール名を表示する」という修正が入ったそうなので、WarpIn インストーラ版を使ってアップグレードしてみました。
ちなみにですね、Firefox 38.8 からは ANPM の使用が推奨されています。Release 記事の中にも
Note that starting from this release, we no longer support manual installation of Firefox requirements from ZIP files and therefore the corresponding information was removed from README.OS2. You should use either the Arca Noae Package Manager or the YUM command line tool to install the following packages in order to be able to use the Firefox application:
README.OS2 ファイルにもこうあります。
要するに手作業で多数のライブラリを展開するのは面倒な上に、起動しないトラブルの素だからってことですね（超意訳）。
では Firefox 38.8.0 for OS/2 を起動してみます。
